Thumb Index

Indexing plays a vital role in the production of Bibles and dictionaries, alongside printing and binding. It enables the creation of visually appealing books with a user-friendly feature that allows readers to locate specific phrases or chapters more easily.

Among the various methods of indexing, Thumb Indexing is widely recognized as the most sophisticated approach. This technique involves incorporating evenly spaced, punched semicircular grooves along the book's side, which expose tabs.

Thumb Indexing is particularly well-suited for books that require effortless navigation through different sections. Consequently, many publishing companies choose to implement this method selectively, typically reserving it for limited editions or special releases.
